Good day! Today we've got a plant that's known to give a boost of energy: Ashwagandha, also known as Indian Ginseng.
The Latin name of this plant is Withania Somnifera.
The roots of this plant are where the medicinal properties are concentrated. Ashwagandha is considered an adaptogenic herb, meaning it helps you adapt to stress. It's a great herb for calming the mind, and is known to help with insomnia. Some people prefer ashwagandha to caffeine, since it doesn't produce jitters like caffeine sometimes does. It gives the feeling of a natural boost of energy, but at the same time is calming for the mind.
The name ashwagandha is derived from the Sanskrit word "ashva" meaning "horse." The reason for this name is due to the fact that ashwagandha is said to bestow upon people the strength and vitality of a horse! Most people take ashwagandha in capsule or powder form so that it can easily be taken daily.
Have a magical day,
Jenny
PLANT INGESTION WARNING!
As with all herbs and plants you plan to ingest, never ingest them before doing your own research and/or talking with your doctor - it’s possible that medications you take or health conditions you have could have a negative effect if paired with ashwagandha. Better safe than sorry!
