Lavender aka Lavandula Angustifolia

Good day! Today we have a calming and cooling plant: Lavender, also known as common lavender.

The Latin name of this plant is Lavandula Angustifolia.

Lavender is a part of the mint family, known as Lamiaceae, along with plants like basil, rosemary, and thyme. It has a cooling and stimulating effect, increasing oxygenation throughout the body and reducing feelings of overwhelm.

The smell of lavender has a relaxing effect. Some ways people commonly use lavender for its smell are by placing lavender essential oil on your temples as you’re lying down, adding lavender essential oil to an oil diffuser, burning lavender incense, and adding lavender scented items to a shower or bath. The smell is great for relieving tension headaches! It also works as a natural antihistamine, and can help soothe your allergy symptoms due to its ability to calm and reduce inflammation.

A beautiful way to ingest lavender is by making yourself a lavender infused honey, or by adding some lavender in with your tea. You can even add some lavender to homemade cookies! Just be aware that using TOO much lavender in any of these might leave a bitter taste in your mouth.

Have a magical day!

PLANT INGESTION WARNING!
As with all herbs and plants you plan to ingest, never ingest them before doing your own research and/or talking with your doctor - it’s possible that medications you take or health conditions you have could have a negative effect if paired with lavender. Better safe than sorry!
