Good day to you! Today in the spotlight we've got a tasty herb: Lemongrass.
The Latin name of this plant is Cymbopogon Citratus.
There are a handful of health benefits that lemongrass is known for. It can help regulate blood pressure and reduce blood sugar levels, which is good for people who are diabetic. Consuming lemongrass also improves digestive health; if you’re experiencing stomach and digestive issues, drinking lemongrass tea using the fresh or dried leaves of the plant can bring you some relief. You can also add the sturdier stalks at the base of the plant in soups or curry-type dishes to get its medicinal benefits.
Lemongrass is considered a nervine, meaning it has a calming effect on the body and mind, and works on the nervous system to lessen anxiety and stress. It contains the compounds eugenol, myrcene, and citral, which have been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects - which makes this a plant that can also help reduce headaches!
Have a magical day,
Jenny
PLANT INGESTION WARNING!
As with all herbs and plants you plan to ingest, never ingest them before doing your own research and/or talking with your doctor - it’s possible that medications you take or health conditions you have could have a negative effect if paired with lemongrass. Better safe than sorry!
